The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

I grew up in the absolute boondocks of LIFE! I honestly lived dead in the middle of nowhere. Ever seen the movie The Strangers? Picture that with a lot more trees and a lot more echoing if you ever have to scream for your life. Yeah, it sucked.

A lot of this kind of stuff might have just been my imagination and me psyching myself out, but I swear...every...single...time I watched a horror movie, something from that horror movie or something freaky would happen to me. Like when I watched The Ring, for instance. As soon as that little girl popped out of that screen, the lights went out in my room. I was left in complete darkness from the time it showed her to the time she left. As soon as she was done, the lights came back on. Coincidence? Perhaps.

Then of course there are little things, like times in movies. When I saw The Amityville Horror, and everything happened at 3:15. There was the one scene where the kid was in the bathroom, and then all of a sudden that thing was in the mirror? The first time I ever screamed in a horror movie. Well, that night, I woke up at about 3:13, and at 3:15 I had to PEE so BAD! But, I sat there and thought, "No force on God's green earth is going to make me go in that bathroom." And I didn't. But I did wake up at about 5 thinking, "If I don't pee now I'm going to wet the bed...at 17 years old..." I didn't wet the bed, just the clear that up now.

I think one of the most legitimately scary things that's ever happened to me was something from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The saddest thing about it was I've never even seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so I don't exactly know how I would be lucky enough to have something happen from it.

Anyway, it was my Senior year in high school. I was doing Mock Trial (which is kind of self explanatory, but basically you're given a "case" and then everyone has a role and a testimony and then you present it like a real case and then a judge [an actual judge, too, who just helps us out for fun] makes a decision, blah blah. It was a good extracurricular activity) and we had just finished up doing our county trials. Everything was done except for going to state (which was really stupid. That's definitely another story though) so we decided to throw a Mock Trial party.

The party ended up being at my dead-ass in-the-middle-of-nowhere house. It was all fun and laughs at first, pizza, soda, anything that could rot your teeth. (Mind you my parents were around, so we weren't that bad.) Well, at around 10-ish we all decided to go play hide and seek, because my creepy house is the perfect location for that.

When we all got outside, I said we had to hide in partners because I didn't want anybody getting lost or anything. I knew my way all around the house, but I didn't want anyone being by themselves. Toward the end of the game, I hid with my friend Valerie because we changed partners each round.

Valerie and I hid down a ways from my house underneath a log. I remember just laying down and we were just having a random conversation, and all of a sudden down off by us in the trees a chainsaw goes off.

Mind you, when I said 10-ish, I did mean at night. So it was pitch black, we were in the middle of a forest with no extra help apart from my parents in the house, and there was a chainsaw what sounded like 100 feet away from us.

"Did you hear that?" I whispered.

"I'm trying to pretend I didn't," she whispered back.

So that was awesome. We got really silent and the chainsaw went for a few minutes before just kind of dying away. Needless to say, the game was over. When we all regrouped, we all got freaked the hell out and went back inside and everybody went home. Leaving me to the stupid house that just probably had a psychotic chainsaw murderer in its backyard.
